Mary Bell in the Media

Tina Peratino is a wife, mom, athlete, coach and judge.  Growing up, she was always active as a gymnast, cheerleader and equestrian.  As an adult, a friend got her interested in lifting weights in her early 20's and from that moment on she was hooked.  Soon after, she was certified as a Personal Trainer and taught Spinning and Kickboxing classes part-time.  It wasn't until after the birth of her son, Nikolas (at age 31) and the need to lose 50 lbs that she decided to get serious about the diet and nutrition part of her training routine.  From that moment on, there was no looking back; her first competition came just 18 months after the birth of her son where she won the Novice Overall and placed 2nd in the Open Short Class for figure.  She's owes a lot of this to her physique (some genetics and a lot of help from her coach Sully), but even more importantly, she won because of her presence on stage - and that she
owes to Mary Bell and Center Stage Figures!Tina maintains a realistic view on the sport of physique competition.  She believes that we all have lives outside of the sport and there has to be a balance.  Her husband Eric and she both compete and have enjoyed being undefeated in couples body building; but they live by the motto "Work Hard and Play Hard".  She doesn't diet year round and in the off season trains hard, but enjoys hanging out with friends and family over good food and good wine.  Being a wife and mom come first in her life, and physique competition prep can be brutal; it is a very selfish sport so she tries to maintain that balance between competition prep and family.  This means that she must maintain a very strenuous schedule that entails waking at 3:00 a.m. for the first workout of the day and sometimes again at 4:00 pm for a second workout. In between workouts she spends her time working full-time as a Program Manager for the government, spending time preparing meals (for the whole family), quality family time, coaching clients...and the occasional opportunity to sleep.

Tina believes that if you put all of the hard work in with training and diet, you need to be ready to present the entire winning package to the judges on show day.  Her biggest frustration as a judge is to see a beautiful woman who has worked so hard to get on stage show up with an amazing physique, but lacking confidence, stage presence and posing ability.  Her mission a Center Stage Figures coach is to help her clients go from a diamond in the rough to the bright shining stars they deserve to be!

As a coach, Tina's clients tell her she is an inspiration to them with her dedication and positive attitude...and sometimes just the shoulder they need to cry on. "What we do is tough and sometimes just a little reassurance during the contest prep process can go a long way in unrattling my girl's nerves...telling them that 'yes, that is normal' to someone who has never been through it before can help them get through even the toughest diet and training challenges."

Tina made her comeback to the stage in fall 2009 after suffering a labrum tear in her left shoulder and bicep tendon tear in her left bicep during prep for her pro-card win in 2006. After 3 years off, 2 surgeries and a year's worth of rehab...she came back to the stage with a renewed vengeance and has been kicking ass and taking names ever since!
